Canopy management is the organisation of the shoots, leaves and fruit of the grapevine plant in order to maximise the quality of the

microclimate surrounding them, thus improving quality and yield. It is particularly important in cool-climate areas like the Granite Belt.

This half day workshop with Mike Hayes, will give you the skills that you need to breathe the life back into tired vines.

  • Balancing your vines for optimum wine grape
    production
  • Petiole testing
  • Shoot thinning and leaf removal
  • Fruit to leaf ratio
  • Controlled stress management
  • Sun burn on fruit
  • Spray penetration
  • Turning foliage wires

Extensive course notes covering all aspects of the course techniques will be provided.  Course cost includes morning tea and lunch.
