The Queensland College of Wine Tourism is a joint venture between the University of Southern Queensland and the Department of Employment, Small Business and Training.  It opened in April 2007.

A state-of-the-art $8.5 million education and training facility for the Queensland wine tourism industry, the College is located on the campus of Stanthorpe State High School and provides specialist education and training facilities for the wine tourism industry.

In partnership with University of Southern Queensland, Stanthorpe State High School and 47 other Gateway Schools, the College provides training from secondary to tertiary levels in viticulture, oenology, tourism, hospitality and business.

The education and training programs are developed in partnership with the wine tourism industry.

The College incorporates the Award Winning Varias Restaurant, Conference and Function Centre.

Opening Hours & Menus:

Morning Tea Menu – Tuesday to Saturday from 10am
Lunch Menu – Tuesday to Saturday from 11am
Dinner Menu – Friday & Saturday from 5.30pm

Children’s Menu available.

Please note, for groups of more than 16 guests a set menu will be provided.

Picnic Hampers and BBQ Packs available for take-away with 24 hours notice.
Wine available at $20 per bottle (usually $25+ in the Cellar Door) with any take-away order.

Dine in front of the open fire in the winter or on warmer days enjoy dining in our airconditioned restaurant or outside in the courtyard.

The Queensland College of Wine Tourism’s Varias Restaurant has won the 2023 Best Restaurant in a Winery Category in the Queensland and Northern Territory Savour Australia™ Restaurant & Caterers HOSTPLUS Awards for Excellence in 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019.  We were also finalists in 2020, 2021 and 2022.

Each year, more than 200 local restaurants, cafés and catering businesses are judged across 38 categories, with the winners announced at the Awards for Excellence ceremony held in Brisbane.

The Award Winning Varias Restaurant, Conference and Function Centre, together with the Banca Ridge Vineyard and Cellar Door, is open to the public for lunch from 11am 5 days a week (Tuesday – Saturday) and dinner from 5.30pm on Friday and Saturday evenings.  Varias Restaurant also provides an a la carte morning tea menu from 10am (Tuesday – Saturday).  In winter, dine in front of the fireplace or on warmer days enjoy dining in our airconditioned restaurant or outside in the courtyard.
