QWIA Emerging Varieties Seminar
November 21, 2018 @ 9:00 am - 3:00 pm
| $20Program for the Day:
9:00am Commencement
9.30am Tony Hoare
Tony and wife Briony’s wine brand is based almost entirely on emerging varieties. Twelve years ago Tony and Briony started their little wine brand, Beach Road Wines. Their ambitions were modest: make some good value wine, sell it and make enough money to retire. Twelve years later they have done two out of the three with the last ambition still just a mirage.
10.30am Morning Tea
11am Nick Dry
Nick studied viticulture at Adelaide University and after graduation in 2001 spent time with Pernod Ricard in the Riverland and then the Phylloxera and Grape Industry Board working as the Rootstock Project Manager. For the last 10 years he has managed the Yalumba Nursery and during this time has developed an intimate understanding of the processes related to vine propagation and vine improvement. Nick is passionate in his belief that ‘Quality begins in the nursery through the selection of the most appropriate variety, clone and rootstock and by using high quality planting material’.
