Student & Teacher Gateway Workshop

The Gateway to Industry program is pleased to bring you an exciting day filled with expert industry presenters to share their knowledge and industry experience to teachers and students.  This event promises to provide you unrivalled insight into the food, wine and tourism industry.  We will also be discussing the large amount of diverse career opportunities available in the industry and providing important ‘next steps’ on how to get a job or further education after leaving school.

Event Overview

Workshop format – rotating groups will see 4 industry speakers on the day each presenting for 40 minutes occurring simultaneously.  Teachers and students are encouraged to ask questions with each speaker.

Chef Demonstration – Chef Nicolas Devic from C’est Bon

Barista Demonstration – Troy Furner, Managing Director of Blackbird Warehouse Cafe

Human Resources Expert – Bernadette from Accor Group

Tourism Industry Representative – Laurie Pritchard, Owner & Managing Director at Small World Journeys and 2017 Cairns Small Business Woman of the Year

Timing

8.45am for 9am start

9.00am to 9.40am – first presentation

9.45am – 10.25am – second presentation

10.30am to 11.10am – morning tea

11.15am – 11.55am – third presentation

12.00pm to 12.40pm – fourth presentation

12.45pm – 1.30pm – lunch and networking (presenters and teachers only)
