The SIT20316 Certificate II in Hospitality covers provides a pathway for students to learn the skills and knowledge required for work in the hospitality industry such as restaurant, café, coffee shop, hotels and clubs.

Units covered include: customer service, social and cultural sensitivity, workplace health and safety, working with others, hygienic practices for food safety, responsible service of alcohol, preparing and serving espresso coffee, industry placement/work experience (12 service periods), plus more.

This qualification reflects the role of individuals who have a defined and limited range of hospitality operational skills and basic industry knowledge.  They are involved in mainly routine and repetitive tasks and work under direct supervision.

This qualification provides a pathway to work in organisations such as restaurants, hotels, motels, clubs, pubs, cafés, and coffee shops.  This qualification allows for multi-skilling and for specialisation in accommodation services, food and beverage and gaming.

This course includes the completion of industry placement of thirty-six (36) service periods in a live workplace setting.

Students have the option of completing elective specialisation in either food/beverage/restaurant service or coffee shop/bistro skills.

This course offers hands on training and experience to students with the ability to learn the vocational skills for work in the wine industry.  A range of specialist electives are included covering skills used in the following wine industry operational areas:

  • Bottling and packaging

  • Wine grape growing

This course is available to the Stanthorpe State High School (SSHS) vocational pathway students and is a packaged certificate with the AHC20316 Certificate II in Production Horticulture.

This qualification reflects the role of individuals working in kitchens who use a defined and limited range of food preparation and cookery skills to prepare food and menu items.  They are involved in mainly routine and repetitive tasks and work under direct supervision.  This qualification does not provide the skills required by commercial cooks, which are covered in SIT30816 Certificate III in Commercial Cookery.

This qualification provides a pathway to work in kitchen operations in organisations such as restaurants, hotels, catering operations, clubs, pubs, cafes and coffee shops; and institutions such as aged care facilities, hospitals, prisons and schools.

Nationally Accredited Short Courses

This Responsible Service of Alcohol course covers the skill and knowledge requirements common to all States and Territories for RSA.  Some legislative requirements and knowledge will differ across borders, however you will learn to:

  • Understand your obligations under the law
  • Identify customers to whom alcohol service may be refused
  • Responsibly assist customers to drink within appropriate limits
  • Assist alcohol affected customers
  • Refuse service to customers in a professional manner
