A practical workshop on vineyard pruning for wine grape production.  The session will focus on the basics of spur pruning for vine balance, and vine health. It will also cover bud dissection to view vineyard fruitfulness so that we make informed decisions when choosing the appropriate pruning style.

We will also touch on:

  • Pruning to combat trunk diseases.
  • Cane pruning – principles and practices.
  • Rod and Spur to increase fruit levels.
  • Budwood collection for summer propagation.

Cost includes morning tea.

This workshop will be conducted by Mike Hayes, the founder and director of Vine to Wine Consulting and is the Director of Vineyard & Winery Operations at Sirromet Wines.  Mike has worked in all aspects of the industry for over 39 years and is a winner of not only the Churchill fellowship but has also been named 2017 ASVO Winemaker of the Year.  This wine professional will have you captivated.
